Service assurance

Safeguarding, Quality & Assurance

Care with accountability built in.

01CQC Registration and Accountability+

Thorough Homecare Services – East Riding of Yorkshire is the CQC-registered domiciliary care service operated by Thorough Recruitment Limited. The regulated activity is Personal Care. The service has not yet been inspected by the CQC and therefore does not have a published rating. The service is not registered to provide End of Life care.

02Personalised Assessment and Care Planning+

Before care begins, we consider the person’s assessed needs, wishes, preferences, routines, communication needs and relevant risks. The care and support plan records the agreed assistance and outcomes the person wants to achieve, and is reviewed when needs or circumstances change.

03Safer Recruitment+

Our safer recruitment process checks each applicant’s identity, right to work in the UK, employment history, references, DBS status and suitability for the role. Qualifications and professional registration are verified where required, and employment gaps are clarified. Staff are not authorised to undertake care duties until the required checks, training and role-specific competency requirements have been met. Duties are allocated in line with assessed competence, the person’s care plan and the requirements of the role.

04Training, Competence and Supervision+

Staff receive mandatory and role-specific training relevant to their responsibilities. Their ability to carry out assigned tasks is supported through competency assessment, supervision, feedback and ongoing development. Tasks are allocated in line with assessed needs, staff competence and the agreed care plan.

05Safeguarding and Risk Management+

Safeguarding and risk management are embedded in assessment, care planning, delivery and review. Staff are expected to identify, recognise, record, report and escalate abuse, neglect and safeguarding concerns through the appropriate procedures. Concerns, incidents and actions are recorded and escalated where required.

06Medication and Care Practice+

Where medication support forms part of an agreed care plan, it is provided in line with the person’s assessed needs, by staff with the appropriate competence and in accordance with the service’s medication procedures. Care records support communication about the assistance provided and the identification of any concerns.

07Governance, Monitoring & Continuous Improvement+

Thorough Homecare Services maintains structured systems for monitoring the quality, safety and effectiveness of care. Our governance arrangements bring together care planning, safeguarding, workforce assurance, audit, feedback and leadership oversight to identify risks, maintain standards and support continuous improvement.

08Complaints, Comments & Feedback+

We welcome compliments, comments, concerns and complaints. Concerns are handled fairly, respectfully and in accordance with our complaints procedure. We review and respond to issues appropriately, using learning from complaints and feedback to support service improvement. Service users, family members, representatives, professionals and other interested people can raise a concern or provide feedback.

09Continuity and Communication+

Where reasonably possible, we aim to provide consistency in the care professionals supporting each person. We maintain communication with the individual and, where appropriate, their representative and relevant professionals to support coordinated care.
